10 days in Corsica: an itinerary to discover the island of beauty

You have ten days to visit Corsica. And the desire to travel is your best companion: you want to be sure to see the most unforgettable places that the island of beauty can offer. To fulfill your wish, now you need only an itinerary.

Such as this itinerary that, in ten days, will accompany you along (in this order) the north coast, the west coast and the south coast of the island.

Day #1: Bastia

On the northern coast. From Cathédrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste to Palais des Gouverneurs, from Place Saint-Nicolas to Boulevard Paoli, you will spend the first day admiring the many historical and cultural attractions of Bastia.

Day #2: Ile-Rousse

If the first day was dedicated to the historical and cultural attractions, the second will be only for sun, sea and relaxation. Among the most beautiful beaches in Ile-Rousse, on the north coast, there are the beach of Ile-Rousse, the beautiful Plage de Bodri and Plage de Lozari, Algajola.

In addition to this, you can discover the desert of Agriates: this area is characterized by Mediterranean scrub, small shrubs and rocky outcrops.

Day #3: Calvi

The most beautiful part of Calvi is its citadel, built on a promontory overlooking the beautiful Corsican sea: it is ancient and charming, with narrow streets, small cafes and archways. Other places to see are Pro-cathédrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste, the Marina, Église Sainte-Marie-Majeure, the wonderful beaches.

Day #4: Cargèse

One of the most beautiful villages in Corsica. Cargèse is “the city of the two churches”: the first one is Latin, the second is Greek. It is a very picturesque and, above all, quiet place.

Day #5: Ajaccio

In this journey to visit Corsica in ten days, there must be the main town. The first part of the fifth day will be dedicated to discover the history of Ajaccio, visiting places such as the cathedral, Napoleon’s house, the Imperial Chapel, the citadel, the Napoleonic museum.

In the afternoon, Sanguinaires Islands await you: small islands just off the coast, to see by boat trip from the port of Ajaccio.

Day #6: Scandola

The Réserve naturelle de Scandola, World Heritage Site, is a marine and terrestrial protected area. The two parts of the Réserve are Elpa Nera island and Scandola peninsula. You can reach them taking part in a boat trip from Ajaccio.

Day #7: Propriano

A renowned village that overlooks the Gulf of Valinco. It is famous for its long and beautiful white sand beach: in Propriano you will spend a relaxing day.

Day #8: Sartène

It is an ancient medieval town built on top of a rocky hill. The houses in the old part are granite, as well as the narrow streets. This place is special for its atmosphere, where time seems to have really stopped.

Day #9: Bonifacio

The city overlooking the white cliffs of the Strait of Bonifacio. The citadel is the first of the things to see. Then there are La Marine, Eglise Sainte-Marie-Majeure, Escalier du Roi d’Aragon, Eglise Saint-Dominique, the aquarium, the beaches.

Day #10: Porto Vecchio

Porto Vecchio is the last stage of this itinerary to visit Corsica in ten days. And here you will find some of the most beautiful beaches on the island, such as Rondinara, Palombaggia and Santa Giulia.
