It is the most important regional fair of Corsica. And it is also one of the main (and most awaited) winter events on the island of beauty. An event that combines tradition, culture and the taste of this fruit, symbol of autumn. From November 27 to 29, the 2015 edition of Chestnut festival will take place in Bocognano.
The Chestnut festival
The main theme of the festival, and it could not be otherwise, is chestnut and its many uses. It is an event that, every year, attracts thousands of visitors, artisans and producers, who meet here to discover what is considered one of the most typical tastes of the island of beauty.
During this three-days event, you can taste chestnuts prepared in various ways, from traditional roasted chestnuts to chestnut cake. And don’t forget civet de sanglier, one of the dishes to eat in Corsica. In addition, there will be lectures, presentations and symposia.
How to get there
Bocognano is a small town on the mountains of central Corsica. The main nearby town is Ajaccio, the capital city of the region.
To get there from Ajaccio, take the N193 road towards north and follow the road signs to Bocognano. The journey takes about three quarters of an hour by car.
