It is one of the most typical autumnal flavours. A fundamental ingredient for culinary specialties such as chestnut cake, chestnut liqueur and the classic roast chestnuts. And the chestnut is much more: it is culture, tradition, and folklore. This is what awaits you during the Chestnut festival 2016 of Bocognano, event which will take place from December 9th to 11th.
Considered one of the most important regional fairs of Corsica, Corsican producers and not only will meet here with about 20 thousand visitors (this is the average number of people who visit the fair every year). Three days during which you can discover the chestnut and its many uses, enjoy specialties prepared with this fruit, attend presentations and debates.
How to get there
Bocognano is a picturesque village just in the heart of Corsica, built between valleys and mountains. To get there from Ajaccio (the main town nearby), you just have to take the T20 road and follow the signs to Bocognano. The journey by car takes less than 45 minutes.
Mountains and cities
As already said, Bocognano is in the heart of Corsica and the “starting point” to get there is Ajaccio. So, this December holiday can be a great occasion to:
- Visit Ajaccio, the most important Corsican city;
- Walk along paths and trails on the mountains of Corsica.
