In defiance of the old Italian adage (“Christmas with family, Easter with whoever you like”), you decided to have a trip during Christmas 2015. And you have also chosen the destination: you desire to visit Corsica and this is a good opportunity to do it.
Now you need some ideas to organize the trip. Coincidentally, we have three that are right up your alley.
1. Christmas markets
Is there anything more Christmassy than markets? Among lights, stalls, sweets and music, the perfect place to feel the atmosphere of Noël (Christmas in French). Walking through the stalls, next to the nativity figurines you will find the typical Corsican products and delicacies prepared only at Christmas.
The most important Christmas markets of Corsica is in Ajaccio, usually from December 8 to January 6 (Epiphany). For more information, please visit the official website of the town of Ajaccio, Ajaccio.fr.
2. Ski holidays
When you say Corsica, the first things that come immediately to your mind are heavenly beaches. Not many people know that you can ski in Corsica. The main destinations for a pleasant winter holiday are three:
- Val d’Ese
- Monte Renoso
- Col de Vergio
In these three ski resorts there is everything you may need: ski runs, ski lifts, hotels, restaurants, ski schools.
3. The cities to visit
Ajaccio, Bonifacio, Porto Vecchio, Bastia, Calvi, Ile-Rousse: these can be considered the most beautiful cities of Corsica. For your Christmas holidays 2015, you can choose one of these two solutions:
- visit one of this cities (we recommend Bonifacio and Ajaccio)
- visit 2 or 3 cities (we recommend Porto Vecchio-Bonifacio-Ajaccio if your vacation is on the south coast, Bastia-Ile Rousse-Calvi if your vacation is on the north coast)
