Where to ski in Corsica: 3 places to spend a pleasant ski holiday

You’d like spending a pleasant ski holiday in a destination you’ve never visited before, or at least not in winter. The destination chosen for your next trip is this Mediterranean island. If you are wondering where to ski in Corsica, the island’s best ski resorts are three: Val d’Ese, Col de Vergio and Monte Renoso.

1. Val d’Ese

Central Corsica, near the municipality of Bastelica. 1600 meters above the sea level, Val d’Ese ski resort is surrounded by three mounts, Punta di Petra Mala, Punta Vaccaio and Punta Coperchiana. There are 4 ski runs (1 red, 2 blue, 2 green) and several ski-lifts.

How to get. From Ajaccio, take the T40 road and the D27 road, following the road signs to Val d’Ese ski resort. The journey by car takes about one hour.

2. Monte Renoso

East Corsica, near the smal village of Ghisoni. In the Ghisoni ski resort (1580-1810 meters above the sea level) there are 7 ski runs, 2 ski-lifts, a mountain refuge and a bar-restaurant. Monte Renoso is recommended both for beginners and experts.

How to get. From Porto Vecchio, take the T10 road to Ghisonaccia and the D344 road to Monte Renoso. The journey by car takes about two hours.

3. Col de Vergio

Vergio, near Col de Verghju (close to Ajaccio), is maybe the most important ski resort in Corsica. Opened from November to March, there are 7 ski runs (1 black, 2 red, 1 blue, 1 green and 2 for beginners) and 6 ski-lifts.

How to get. From Ajaccio, take the D70 road towards north and follow the road signs to Col De Vergio and the ski resort. The journey by car takes less than two hours.

Where to stay

All these ski resorts are near little towns where it’s possible to find hotels, farmhouses, ski rental shops, and other services.

When to go

The best period for skiing in Corsica is from February to March. But even in December/January you can find great weather conditions to enjoy this ski holiday in Corsica.

And now, there’s only one thing left to do: book one of the ferries to Corsica.
