Vacation to Corsica: 3 traditions to discover the island of beauty

Corsica traditions

The reason for which you have decided to visit Corsica is the beauty of its nature, from the coast to the mountains. Accept a good advice: the Island of beauty is an ancient land, where traditions are as much ancient. And, obviously, to discover.

1. Culinary traditions

If you really want to discover history and traditions of a land, you have to sit at the table and taste the traditional recipes. In Corsica, the best culinary delights are aziminu, stufatu, civet de sanglier, veau aux olives. You can taste these dishes in all the restaurants of cities such as Ajaccio and Bonifacio.

A special mention for the typical products of Corsica, such as brocciu (a cheese) or cured meats (prisuttu, lonzu, figatellu). The place to find them (and taste them) is Sartene.

2. Craftsmanship

Pottery, metal and wood craft: tradition of Corsica is varied and ancient. Each object is like a small work of art. The advice is to search the craft shops that are in the small villages of the island of beauty.

3. Polyphonic songs

We are talking about one of the most ancient traditions of Corsica. In honor of paghjella, the island of beauty could be renamed “the island of the song”. These are the wonderful Corsican polyphonic songs.
