Cavallo Island: how to get to one of the most exclusive places of Corsica

If we talk about charming sea, dream beaches and breathtaking views, Corsica has accustomed you to the best: places as Rondinara and Palombaggia would not even need an introduction. But if you are looking for an exclusive place, then you have to visit Cavallo island. Here’s how to get there.

The island

A simple oasis: this is a brief but effective way to describe Cavallo island. Although its surface is a little more than one square kilometer, its coastline is a constant surprise. You will admire a succession of small pristine beaches and hidden coves between the smooth rocks that rise from the sea just below the surface.

The particular beauty and unspoilt nature are only heightened by the aura of exclusivity surrounding the island: the inhabitants are few, people who may visit it even less (as you will see later). But this makes the place even more special. A place where you will experience a sense of total and undisturbed relaxation.

Not surprisingly, Cavallo island is frequented by various celebrities, many of whom own a house on the island.

Where it is located

It is located on the splendid sea of Bocche di Bonifacio, at a short distance from the coast. Nearby there is also the small Lavezzi island, a very popular destination, which is particularly appreciated by diving enthusiasts.

How to get to

Piantarella, besides being a beautiful beach, it’s a dock, from which the boats that go to Cavallo island leave. This service is available only for the islanders, for potential tenants and for guests of the hotel des Pecheurs, the only hotel on the whole Cavallo island. In general, only the residents, guests and hotel guests can access the island.

Starting from Bonifacio, to get to Piantarella dock you have just to take the D260 and follow the signs to the dock. The journey by car takes about fifteen minutes.
