Running is your great passion. In particular, you like to test yourself in challenging races. Especially if the event takes place near one of the most beautiful seas in the world. Which race is more challenging than the marathon? And what better occasion than the 2016 edition of Ajaccio marathon, on April 3, Sunday?
Divided into three specialties (marathon, half marathon and a ten-kilometres race), the meeting point of the event is in place Miot, in the centre of Ajaccio. The starting point and the arrival point is the same for the three specialities: it’s the statue of Sylvestre Marcaggi in Boulevard Lantivy.
A city to see and to taste
- Even if marathon is the reason for which you are here, don’t forget that you’re in one of the most beautiful cities of the island: you can visit Ajaccio in one day and see places such as the cathedral, the imperial chapel, the birthplace of Napoleon.
- Corsica is famous not only for its beaches but for its culinary specialties too: after or before the marathon, you could taste Corsican typical dishes, such as charcuterie, civet de sanglier and bouillarbasse.
How to get there
From the port of the city (where ferries to Ajaccio arrive), you can reach place Miot taking a bus: the journey from the port to the square takes about seven minutes.
