The first French emperor was born in Ajaccio on August 15th, 1769. Since then, Napoleon and the main city of Corsica are indissolubly linked. A link reiterated every year during the Napoleonic days, which will take place from August 13th to 15th, 2017.
The Napoleonic days
During this event, the sacred meets the profane. Because, on the one hand, there will be celebrations for the Assumption. On the other hand, during these three days, the city will pay homage to its most illustrious and famous citizen with great parades, performances, ceremonies, musical moments, fireworks show. And the climax of the event will be the evening of August 15th.
The event will last three days in the middle of summer. For this reason, we recommend you to discover one of the most beautiful parts of the whole Corsica.
- You can visit Ajaccio in one day and see its main attractions: for example, we can mention the Citadel and Place Foch.
- Summer is the best time to enjoy a bit of relaxation on some of the most beautiful beaches in Ajaccio, such as Marinella.
- At this point, you just have to discover the surroundings of the main city of Corsica, which can offer archaeological sites and natural reserves.
How to get there
It’s very easy. Ajaccio is one of the most important ports for the ferries to Corsica. Departures are very frequent, in particular during summer.
