In Semptember, Corsica becomes magical: temperatures are still pleasant and not sultry, any more tourists crowd, lower prices both for ferry boats and hotels. Moreover, you’ll have the impression that the isle of beauty is all for you. And, to make this holiday even more magical, there’s an event you don’t want to miss: Rencontres de chants polyphoniques 2016, from September 13 to 17 in Calvi.
Corsica’s polyphonics songs…
…Are among the most ancient and evocative traditions of the island of beauty. Folk groups sings fighting songs, Love songs, funeral songs and passion songs. The background music is played by instruments traditionally handmade and used by shepherds of the island, such as cetera (16 strings) and pivana, made from the horn of a goat.
Rencontres de chants polyphoniques is the occasion for listening at an authentic piece of Corsica’s culture, born in 1989 from a simple idea of some passionate, nowadays it gather musical bands from all over the world.
Calvi is a good starting point for a holiday devoted to discover the northen coast of Corsica.
